Meet the SIngle Cask Nation Team
Though having started as a US based independent bottlers in 2011 the company owners, Joshua Hatton (an American) & Jason Johnstone-Yellin (a Scot), brought on Glasgow-based Jess Lomas as their Global Sales Manager in 2019 to loaunch the brand in 70cl bottles for markets outside the United States.
President & CEO
A true whisky aficionado, Joshua Hatton brings to the table an ability to inspire and get people excited about whisky. Engage Joshua in a conversation about whisky and you’ll instantly see that his love and appreciation for “brown spirits” runs deep, yet is always worn on his sleeve. Though Joshua started his career in whisky as a blogger/reviewer, his desire to instill in others his love and passion for whisky was the driving force and inspiration for founding his own endeavors: Single Cask Nation, a now global independent bottler with a focus on Scotch whisky, One Nation Under Whisky podcast, and the famous, though sadly now mothballed, Whisky Jewbilee festival which is held in Seattle, New York City, and Chicago.
Vice President & COO
Jason Johnstone-Yellin has been one half of the successful US-based independent bottling company Single Cask Nation since 2011 with his good friend and business partner, Joshua Hatton. Originally known for bottling single casks of Scotch whisky and world single malt the company has also bottled bourbon, rye, American light whisky and recently branched into bottling mezcals and rums. Jason, with Joshua, has also run a world renowned whisky festival called Whisky Jewbilee in three major US cities, currently operates a tour company called WhiskyGeek Tours, and co-hosts a terrifically fun and informative industry podcast called One Nation Under Whisky.
Global Sales Manager
Jess Lomas joins Single Cask Nation with a wealth of whisky knowledge under her belt. From her student days of discovering whiskies whilst studying in Aberdeen, to working in a specialist off-licence to becoming the operations and logistics manager for an online whisky auction in Glasgow. Somewhere in the middle of that she found time to complete two law degrees as well as hosting whisky tastings around the world! Her love for whisky comes from childhood holidays in Speyside and an early fascination with the distillation process, mainly thanks to trips to Glenfiddich, but once she discovered those peaty brutes from Islay there was no going back. Some of our Nation members may recognise her from various Whisky Jewbilees or from her previous role of “Queen of the Boxes”. She’s really looking forward to getting to meet more of the Nation members and share some top class drams with you all!
